From the 17thof March to the 25th , the USA region had the pleasure to receive Fr Camilo Bernal, CJM for the canonical visit, he started in San Diego by visiting part of the local community and celebrating the feast of St Patrick with the Eudists that work at St Patrick parish in Carlsbad, then the next day, moved to Los Angeles and took advantage to meet with the archbishop of Los Angeles most reverend Jose H. Gomez and the regional Bishop of the San Fernando pastoral Region Bishop Gerald Wilkerson.

After a cordial visit at St John Eudes Parish, he also took advantage to visit the seminary where our seminarians Eleuterio and Steve receive the theological formation towards the priesthood and met with the director of the seminary.

Back in San Diego, took advantage to cross south of the border to meet with the sisters in Tijuana in the morning of the feast of the annunciation.
In the afternoon, the local community of San Diego had the opportunity to get together with the associates and friends of the Eudists to celebrate the feast of the Annunciation and the 371st Anniversary of the foundation of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary.

We gathered at St Patrick Catholic Community in Carlsbad, California for a Mass at 4:00 pm. Father Camilo presided the celebration which was enliven with beautiful songs and the beautiful liturgy of such special day, in which we also renewed our commitment of incorporation, followed immediately by the associate’s renewal, within it, Carol Amos became an Associate and Deacon Al Graf who is 95 and a great supporter of our work, received the title of “honorary Associate”; the seminarian and candidates also had a special formula to renew their desire to continue discovering the will of God in their formation and discernment process.

After such beautiful celebration, we then shared the table as brothers and sisters which are together for the mission with a delicious dinner in the Parish Hall at St Patrick’s. It was a gift to share the table of the Lord and dinner in the company of all the Associates, seminarians and incorporated, the spirits were high and we enjoyed every minute of it.
It was a very solemn way to end the General’s visit, which left us in a spirit of joy after renewing our promises under the shadow of the Holy Spirit to be able to live mercy, formation and mission in the footsteps of St John Eudes.
