The Best Use of Freedom Is Charity: Fortnight for Freedom Closing Mass

 On July 4th Little Sisters from our communities in Washington and Baltimore participated in the closing Mass for the 3rd Fortnight for Freedom at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville was the homilist.

We were completely surprised and quite humbled as the Archbishop spoke at length about the Little Sisters of the Poor, explaining that "If you lift the burdens of another the light will shine in the darkness," and "We cannot separate acts of service from the living faith that motivates these acts."
