Ministries for 4 seminarians in the Philippines

We had a great joy, because we had the celebration of the Eucharist in which 4 seminarians received the ministry of lector. The mass took place at the house of formation Saint John Eudes in Quezon City in Manila, all the seminarians were present and the daily readings gave us a chance to speak of the challenges of every Christian in leaving the old self and the urgency in vesting ourselves with the new self in Jesus Christ; it gave a spiritual path to our new lectors as they embark in their new ministry.

The seminarians who received the ministry of lector are:
Resty Castillo

Cesar Ian Granada

Ryan M. Recto

Christian Joseph Vales

They were very happy to be trusted with this ministry and to be a step further into their vocation and preparation towards the priesthood, we keep praying for them.

PRIESTLY ORDINATIONS:

A great joy for the community in the Philippines with the ordinations of our three Filipino confreres, they were happy, expectant and ready, they are:

Mike Dupo
Renato Ligeralde
Robert Leus

Everyone in the “Saint John Eudes House of Formation” was busy with school classes and homework, but also everyone took time to perfect the preparations for the ordination.

All the seminarians and friends of the house of formation had some ministry to perform during the ceremony and they were very careful to take time to prepare it. The rehearsal on Thursday September the 10th, showed how serious they were on their service, but it also promised a well rehearsed ceremony.

So, Today, Friday September the 11th 2015 at the local parish "Santa María della Estrada" in Loyola heights in Quezon City the day finally arrived for these ordinations. They say the church has a capacity for 600 people; we had close to 500. (on a Friday and with rains in the forecast)

The presider was his eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, archbishop of Manila, who is well
known by the Eudists since it was him and our dear sisters of the Good shepherd who paved the way for the Eudists to make their first missionary trip to Asia, which after almost 10 years has given so many blessings and today we were witnessing some of those.

I made a point to be in the Philippines for canonical visit and to witness this momentous occasion, all the local Eudist were present, Fr. Ron and Fr. Serge were beaming with joy, united by Fr Juan Gabriel Castillo from the San Diego local community who also came to join the brothers in their day of ordination to the priesthood; diocesan priests who are friends of the Eudists or coming from places where the Eudists help with ministry, took part also in the celebration.

Of course, we had the presence of our dear sisters of charity of the good shepherd who as mentioned before, have been instrumental in the development of this mission and always have been a support in prayer and in friendship.

On Saturday and Sunday after the ordination, we will have the first thanksgiving masses presided by our newly ordained priests, Robert Leus will preside a thanksgiving mass early Saturday morning at "Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje" in Quezon City; Renato Ligeralde will preside his first Mass on Saturday evening at "St. Therese of the child Jesus" in Antipolo and Mike Dupo will preside his first Mass at the parish of "Our Lady of Light" in Taytay.

The community of the Philippines now has 4 native Filipino priests, what a blessing to see this community grow and we can only imagine the new pathways where the lord is going to take this community in the future.

In the name of the North American Province and the Philippines I wish these new Priests, the warmest of welcomes, all the best in their ministries and apostolate knowing that the one who began the good work in us, will be faithful to complete it. And to all those in Eudist formation towards the priesthood, to continue faithfully their formation as the Lord is calling laborers for his harvest.

I continuously invite you to keep this mission and the entire province in our prayers.

"Give yourselves to Jesus in order to enter the immensity of his great Heart which contains the Heart of his Holy Mother and the hearts of all the Saints and lose yourselves in this abyss of love, charity, mercy, humility, purity, patience, submission and holiness"

Coeur admirable, III, 2
