CLT Christmas letter 2015

Christmas 2015

…God abides in us,

because Christ has put on our human nature,

like a garment, and worn it to his own shape.

God has put on everyone's life...

Adapted from The Flowering Tree, Caryll Houselander

Dear Partners in Mission - Sisters and Lay,

We are happy to send you our joyful greetings as we begin this Advent season. You may be waiting in eager expectation to hear something about our first month in Rome.

Our outgoing Team and the community had prepared a warm welcome for each one of us, giving thought to even the smallest detail. Our transition time was planned with great creativity, allowing us time to grow in our understanding of the realities of the congregation and of our role, as well as providing opportunities for us to get to know each other a little better. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to them.

During our Installation Eucharist on 14th November, the birthday of St. John Eudes, Fr. Camilo Bernal Hadad, Superior General of our Eudist brothers, reminded us that we are called to be missionaries of mercy - that we are called to unite as the family of the Great Heart, full of mercy, in order to continue and complete the life of Christ. This Jubilee Year of Mercy is truly a call to all of us to deepen our charism and to “see and hear the Good News of Jesus through the eyes and ears of those who are oppressed, calling us to respond in radically new ways” (2015 Direction Statement).

Early in 2016, we hope to be able to share with you more details about our planning process and how we will work together to implement the 2015 Congregational Direction Statement. We very much appreciated your prayer and support during this time of transition; it has helped us to experience anew the richness of our global solidarity. This solidarity brings all of us into the pain and suffering of our world and, at the same time, deepens our resolve to pray and to work for justice and peace.

Our prayer this Christmas is that we may be energized by the Spirit to risk together for mission, making the Incarnation of God a reality in our world today.

May your dreams lead you to profound reverence

as you bow before the Divine born in the stable of every heart ...

May Mary guide you in birthing the Holy One in your life and in birthing Love in others.

May Joseph engage you in deeper questioning and listening

and give you courage to risk the next step.

May your life become a Luminous Presence leading others

to the place in their hearts and in the world where Christ is always being born anew.

Sr. Pat Bergen, csj

May this New Year 2016 enable us to share the humanity of Christ by our very life and presence.

With our love,

The Congregational Leadership Team
