Our dear Sr. Susan Chia saw an urgent need to build the capacity and competence of the sisters ministering to the poor. She believed that the key to building their capacity was formation and training to meet the needs of the future. Fully aware that her time on earth was limited, Susan maintained a vision of running formation and training sessions in Singapore.
When Susan could no longer travel to other countries, it was time for the sisters from other countries to travel to Susan. One of the countries for which Susan saw an urgent need to build capacity was Angola. Susan, together with Sr. Elaine Basinger, intended to conduct sessions for the sisters in Angola. Instead, the Angolans went to Singapore. The session was held from December 28, 2015 to February 8, 2016. Sr. Elaine did conduct the sessions, with Susan's spirit beside, around, and within her.
The Angolan Sisters have returned home, deeply grateful for the lived experience. This was truly a program in which God's love worked wonders and words cannot express all we feel.
