#IGiveHope: Good Shepherd Effort To Stop Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is a global problem affecting countries both rich and poor. This year on the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons we focus our attention on the work the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd is carrying out throughout the world to stop forced labor and exploitation.

The Good Shepherd’s "first response is to express solidarity with those who have suffered victimization through this horrendous crime. Second, we listen to the experiences of such persons and develop holistic programs to serve their needs. Third, we increase our capacity to understand the dynamics of trafficking so as to support women and girls in healing as well as toward self-empowerment through social supports, personal growth opportunities, and employable skills leading to secure income."

The infographic (downloadable below as a PDF) shows what a difference we are making in the lives of women and young girls throughout the world. For example, our Prevention Services have reached some 35,275 people and we have assisted 1,176 victims of human trafficking providing them with services such as health care and counseling. Our awareness raising,national/international lobbying is also making an impact.

There is so much work to be done and you too can help. To learn more about our programs that work in the area of human trafficking, please click here. To read the complete Good Shepherd Position Paper on human trafficking click here.
